Since February 2004, Gascogne Paper has applied the famous international green PEFC logo to its products, indicating that its activities contribute to sustainable forest management.
PEFC certification guarantees that the wood used to make a product comes from forests that are sustainably managed and that safeguard biodiversity.
75% of papers in the natural kraft paper range are PEFC-certified, making a total of more than 100,000 tonnes of certified paper per year. |
PEFC : "Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes"
Gascogne Paper's commitment to respecting and protecting the future of forests has been in place since 1925. It was confirmed in 2004 when the company was awarded PEFC certification for its natural kraft pulp and paper mill, following an audit of its control chain.
FOREST CERTIFICATION
Forests cultivated to make pulp are increasingly being certified by international "environmental forest management" organisations such as PEFC and FSC. These labels guarantee the renewal of forests and efforts to safeguard biodiversity.
The Landes de Gascogne forest is a model of sustainable management. In June 2002, this was acknowledged by the world's leading sustainable forest management authority when it was awarded PEFC certification.
GASCOGNE'S COMMITMENT REWARDED WITH PEFC CERTIFICATION
The Gascogne group originated in the forest, and is fully committed to sustainable forest management and PEFC certification.
The chains of custody of its Wood, Paper and Sacks businesses are PEFC-certified. Its Laminates and Distribution businesses prefer to use the group's certified products.
