The raw material of maritime pine (pinus pinaster) arrives at the mill in two forms:

unstripped logs with a diameter of less than 18cm (wood from thinning operations, branches and tree tops)

sawmill waste

Wood is:
 50% water
 25% lignin and bark
 25% cellulose fibres
700,000 tonnes of wood are used every year in the form of wood chips, to make 150,000 tonnes of paper.
