Renewable resource

« The Natural Fibre » : a sustainable raw material that is 100% renewable and actively renewed, allowing sustainable forest management

To make pulp and paper from unbleached virgin fibres, Gascogne Paper's integrated paper mill uses only one raw material, which is renewable and actively renewed :
by-products from forest maintenance work (branches and tree tops, wood from thinning operations) and from wood processing (sawmill offcuts and waste), all consisting of maritime pine from the Landes de Gascogne.

Thinning operations are vital in a cultivated forest. They remove stunted and poorly developed young trees, giving the other trees the space they need to grow, and they maintain the forest throughout its development.

Sawmill waste (wood chips, blocks etc.) result from the cutting and processing of wood used in construction and furnishing applications.

No - making paper does not destroy forests !

France's woodland is growing by 50,000 hectares per year, due in particular to the paper industry's efforts.
